This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and logistic
installations being prepared for a. DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Plc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firingranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

A barracks area is located on the north edge
of Novomoskovsk alongside the Dnepropetrovsk-
Pavlograd rail line (Figure 1).
The installation covers approximately 65
acres and contains an administration building, 2
barracks, a vehicle park, a vehicle maintenance
building, a vehicle maintenance storage shed, 17
storage buildings, 8 support buildings, and an
athletic field (Figures 2 and 3).
The installation was covered by
missions from
nificant changes during: this period include the
addition of 6 storage buildings and the removal
of a small-arms firing' range. A high level of
activity was observed throughout the period.
The installation is alongside the Dneprope-
trovsk-Pavlograd rail line.
An all-weather road provides access to No-
vomoskovsk.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains an administration build-
ing, 2 barracks, 2 storage buildings, and a
support building.
General Storage Area
Area E contains 15 storage and 7 support
buildings. Six of the storage buildings were first
observed on - photography. A small-
arms firing range located on the west side of
the large storage buildings appeared active in
_ but was removed prior to
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1 contains a 210- by 50-foot vehicle
maintenance building. A row of probable
vehicles was observed on - coverage.
Area J2 is a 470- by 240-foot vehicle park.
Two rows of probable vehicles were observed

Area J3 contains a 290- by 40-foot vehicle
maintenance/storage shed.
