This report supplements NPIC/R-221/63,
1/ which discusses the Gomel MRBM Launch
Complex, previously consisting of two Type II
launch areas.
Gomel MRBM Launch Areas No 1 and 2
25X1 D (Figure 1) were first observed
and were probably complete.
Launch Area No 1 is 5.6 nautical miles (nm)
west-southwest of the fixed field site and Launch
Area No 2 is 8.9 nm northwest of it. Both are
connected to the fixed field site by road.
The fixed field site (Figure 2) is located in
25X1 D a level wooded area 7.5 nm southwest of Gomel.
It was not present on photography
25X1 D and was first observed

site consisted of four probable launch positions
interconnected by a road network. The site
25X1 D remained unchanged on photographyof-

vehicles or equipment had been observed up to
that time.
5 probable missile-ready tents and at least 17
probable personnel tents were moved into the
area. However, no equipment or vehicles were
discernible on the probable launch positions.

The next time the site was observed 25X1 D
all the probable tents had 25X1 D
been removed and no activity was discernible at
the site.
A rail-to-road transfer point is located 2.5
nm southwest of Launch Area No 2, 6.0 nm
northwest of Launch Area No 1, and 10.0 nm
west-northwest of the fixed field site. It could
be utilized by all three sites, as it is connected
to each of them by road.
