This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small-- arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firingranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

A training area is located 20.5 kilometers
northwest of Belaya Tserkov (Figure 1). The
training area covers approximately 5,370 acres
and contains a barracks/administration build-
ing, 3 probable troop quarters, 7 storage build-
ings, 14 fire control towers, 6 support build-
ings, 3 tank/assault-gun firing ranges, a prob-
able vehicle-mounted automatic-weapons firing
range, a small-arms firing range, a closed-
circuit tracked-vehicle driver-training course,
a closed-circuit wheeled-vehicle driver-train- 25X1 D
ing course, and an infantry field training area.
(Figure 2).
The area was covered by KEYHOLE
missions from
and no significant change in the facilities was
observed. The level of activity at the training
area was from light to medium.

Road Service
The training area is connected by an all-
weather road to the town of Trilesy.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains a barracks/administra-
tion building, 3 probable quarters, 7 storage
buildings, and 4 support buildings.
Small-Arms Firing Range
Area L is a small-arms firing range
1,315 by- A fire control tower is
located at the firing line.
Driver-Training Areas
Area M1 is a closed-circuit tracked-ve-
hicle driver-training course with 1 support
building, and an observation tower for vehicle
maneuver control. The course is active during
summer months only.
Area M2 is a closed-circuit wheeled-
vehicle driver-training course. The course
is active during the summer months only.
Tank/Assault-Gun Firing Ranges
Area Ni is a 4,600-foot firing range with
two 2,710-foot firing lanes and 8 moving tar-
gets. Two fire control towers and 1 range
support building are located on the static
firing line.
Area N2 is a 4,800-foot firing range with
two 2,980-foot firing lanes, 9 moving targets,
and 2 static firing points. Three fire control
towers are located on the static firing line.
Area N3 is a 5,380-foot firing range with
9 moving targets and 6 static firing points.
Seven fire control towers are located on the
static firing line.
Light activity was observed during the
winter months on all ranges.
Infantry Field Training Area
Area R contains a series of trenches.
Special Training Facility
Area S is a probable firing range for auto-
matic weapons mounted on wheeled vehicles.
The range contains one firing loop, one moving
target, and a fire control tower. Maximum
firing distance is 950 feet.
