PREFACE
This summary report contains additional information
on the "new" and "change" and order of battle information
on all targets listed in the index (MI) for this mission.
Section I provides a description of "new" targets;
targets either newly identified, or previously known but
being reported for the first time by NPIC.
Section II provides a description of "change" tar-
gets; targets showing a basic change in facilities. Also
under section II are installations where analysis of cur-
rent photography has furnished more precise information.
Section III provides order of battle information on
all targets covered by this mission.
When there are no "new" or "change" targets, or
order of battle information, the appropriate section is
omitted.
"New" and "change" targets are arranged 1).by coun-
try, 2) within the country according to subject, 3) within
the subject by WAG area, and 4) within the WAG area by
geographic coordinates in ascending order. Order of battle
information is arranged 1) by subject, 2) within the sub-
ject according to country, 3) within the country by WAG
area, and 4) within the WAG area by geographic coordi-
nates in ascending order.
The map base used (when available, as applicable)
for the derivation of coordinates is the latest edition
of the US Air Target Chart, series 200, or the AMS
series.
The header line for each target contains, from left
to right, the target name, the geographic coordinates,
NPIC/R-264/65
the world aeronautical chart number (e.g. 0616), the
bombing encyclopedia number (e.g. 00836), and the NPIC
target number (e.g. 11A).
The COMOR target number, where applicable, appears
above the photo reference line.
The photo reference line provides the frame numbers
(e.g. R/100 -- L/101), limiting conditions (e.g. H), photog-
raphic quality (e.g. F), photographic coverage (e.g. T),
and the mode (e.g. ST).
The symbols for conditions affecting photography are
C (clear), SC (scattered cloud cover), HC (heavy cloud cover),
H (haze), GS (cloud shadow), SD (semidarkness), S (snow),
and 0 (obliquity).
The quality of the photography is categorized by G
(good), F (fair), or P (poor).
The extent of photographic coverage is designated by
T (total), PT (partial), or ID (identification only).
The mode of coverage is indicated by ST (stereo),
MN (mono), or PST (partial stereo).
When appropriate an index follows "new" and "change"
targets and another follows order of battle information, with
targets in each index arranged alphabetically.
AAA defenses are divided into three categories: light
(ZPU-1, ZPU-2, ZPU-4, 37MM), medium (57MM, 85MM),
and heavy (100MM and larger). The term HMGAA (heavy
machine gun antiaircraft) indicates a weapon smaller than
A ZPU-1. Where a category cannot be determined, the
site will be listed as an AAA site and the number of guns
indicated (example: 6-Gun AAA Site, occupied/unoccupied).
