transportation and infiltration activity in Southeast Asia,
primarily the Laotian Panhandle, as reported by NPIC
during the period indicated on the cover. For a compre-
hensive study of road development in this area prior to

1. New Road Southwest From Route 911
A newly observed road, consisting of vehicle tracks along a cleared
way, extends southwest from Route 911, 22.5 nm northwest of Sepone, Laos.
No road grading or improvement was observed. On photography oflillIM
the road was observed from Route 911 at U extending southwest
to the end of photographic coverage at UTM 25X1 D

2. Route 914 Construction Complete 25X1 D

The alignment and construction of Route 914 are now complete. The
previously incomplete 0.5 nm segment is intermittently observed under a
heavy tree canopy and appears serviceable. The road had previously been
reported as under construction in
k Route 914 extends from Route 91 at generally southeast
to a junction with Route 92 at UTM -, thereby connecting Routes 91
and 92, intersecting Route 9, and by-passing Sepone and Ban Dong. The
entire road now appears serviceable with light-to-medium usage.

3. New Possible Supply Route Facilities on Tonle Kong
Three possible supply route facilities were newly observed on the
banks of the Tonle Kong (river). Two possible transshipment points are
on the east bank at with access roads Joining
both areas to Route 110. A possible transloading point in an open area
on the west bank at contains 2 unidentified objects (see
page 12). River craft were observed in the area, including some moored
at the possible transloading point. Currently, 7 possible transshipment
and 2 possible transloading points have been identified along the Tonle
Kong (see page 13).

A pontoon vehicle ferry was newly observed on the east bank of the

Cambodia.

5. Motorized River Craft on Tonle Kong
At least 61 motorized river craft were observed on the Tonle Kong (river)
between Siempang, Cambodia, at 14-O7N 106-23E and 14-30N 106-26E, a point
where the river forms part of the Laos-Cambodia Border. Thirty-one craft
were moving north, 14 were moving south, and 16 appeared to be anchored in
the water or moored to the river bank (see page 12). Previously the largest
number of craft observed in this area was 35.
