The first indication of a probable mobile maintenance capability in
the North Korean Air Force (NKAF) is observed at Sunan-up Airfield on
photography of Similar probable maintenance facilities
have been observed at both Hwangju and Onchon-up Airfields (Figure 1).
Such a capability, associated with aircraft like the FAGOT and FRESCO
which have a known rough field capability, would allow the NKAF to conduct
sustained operations from the previously reported highway airstrips or
from any other suitably prepared field location.

The facility at Sunan-up (Figure 2
has five large van-trailers rather than four as at the other locations.
The fifth van may be for storage and maintenance of cameras and camera-
related equipment associated with the reconnaissance-configured FAGOT
reported to be based at this field.
