18th MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORT

Contrac Task Order No. 1
4 November through 4 December 1961
During the period covered by this report, a proposal
has been submitted (on 13 November) for increasing the scope
and period of service under the task order. This proposal
called for effecting certain improvements in the instrument
prior to its insertion into the console. The initiation of these
tasks will be undertaken when an affirmative response has been
received.
Meanwhile, testing and experiments are continuing on a
limited basis. Some difficulties in the film drive and processor
have been encountered, but remedial action is underway. It
has been discovered that additional filtering is required to
eliminate low frequency components (near the line-scan frequency
of 12. 5 cycles per second) from the output signal; the filter is
being incorporated in the design,
