Device -- All major subsystems have been fabricated and delivered and all electronic subsystems have been checked out. The optical >syste~+ has been tested and is ~-eeting specifications. The built- in diagnostic system for troubleshooting is new operational and is actually being used by the contractor in final assc~bly of the device.. The program is on schedule. . Improved Rear-Pxo ection,Screens - - The small sample of a ~ experimental, lenticular screen ws.s exa~ained and tested by RED an ESt3 personnel. Preliminary re- sults indicated that the transmittance of the lenticular material is approximately IOQ~C more than the standard, wide-angle - LS-6~1 screen and 30~k more than the - LS-75 narrow-angle highly-directional screen. The lenticulax material, however, bus ffiome undesirable color. However, sufficient infort~ation has been obtained to indicate that mast of the contaminates cotes from the silicones used in the table. Repeated snalgses of the ail fror~ the test. table indicates that there is s buildup of contaminates with time and that this correlates with a de?inito drop in Tight intensitq. An interita recotendation would be to drain every table after a Few hundred hours of operation, then flush and refill. Periodic changing of tho oil will probably remove all contaminates permanentlq. 25X1A ?< Phatosclence sort - 25X1A 8. pra~ect activity was initiated under tha Photoscience Support Program with Five work orders were authorized far these project +~bject vas: (l} defining the chemistry of non- silver halide photographic processes; (~) apglicatian of a scannixtg mlectron nslcrc+scope to ghotainterprats.tian; (3) coarse- cut analysis of contas~inated green oil ~frora light tables}; {4) investigation of a navel ghataproca.ss; and {S~ demonstration of a contrast manipulation process, GtIANT Thy; technical portion of theGrant was cot~pleted with a daq-lane presentation of research pagers by grant-supported students anc~ with the receipt of their final research reports. -overall perfortnancc was rated "Vary Gaod." itadieal Photrocess - has reversed a previous corporate police ago net accep ng government--sponsored RIND contracts and t~sy now consent to participate in an exploratory program for developing s free radical duplicating film..
