All major subsystems have been fabricated and delivered
and all electronic subsystems have been checked out. The optical
>syste~+ has been tested and is ~-eeting specifications. The built-
in diagnostic system for troubleshooting is new operational and
is actually being used by the contractor in final assc~bly of the
device.. The program is on schedule.

The small sample of a ~ experimental, lenticular screen
ws.s exa~ained and tested by RED an ESt3 personnel. Preliminary re-
sults indicated that the transmittance of the lenticular material
is approximately IOQ~C more than the standard, wide-angle -
LS-6~1 screen and 30~k more than the - LS-75 narrow-angle
highly-directional screen. The lenticulax material, however, bus

The grototgpe is aggroxituately 90~ eomglete, but the
profeet is currently in a stop-work status, Cfl~sletian will
require apgroximateiq - in additional funds and S months'
e tt~ complete, Ate overrun request is currentlq being prepared.,
Positive identification of the cat~tau~inate in the
light table coolant (,green oil) has not been made; fort er
analysis is continuing. However, sufficient infort~ation has been
obtained to indicate that mast of the contaminates cotes from the
silicones used in the table. Repeated snalgses of the ail fror~
the test. table indicates that there is s buildup of contaminates
with time and that this correlates with a de?inito drop in Tight
intensitq. An interita recotendation would be to drain every table
after a Few hundred hours of operation, then flush and refill.
Periodic changing of tho oil will probably remove all contaminates
permanentlq.
