Research and Development
Project Approval Request
At the request of PID, DB/P&DS will undertake the modification of
25X1A three (3) Photomicrographic Enlargers to meet PID's require-
25X1A ments. These modifications will cost _ per unit for a total R&D
25X1A expenditure of cost of the enlargers themselves will
be charged against PID's equipment procurement funds. This item was not
programmed for in the Fiscal 1964 R&D budget; however, PID wishes to
purchase the enlargers with Fiscal 1964 funds. For this reason, it is
highly desirable to fund the modification in Fiscal 1964.
II. Objectives
25X1A The photomicrographic enlargers will permit PID
analysts to rapidly produce high quality, positive, photomicrographic
materials on Polaroid film for immediate study, reference and/or briefing
purposes. As a result of contemplated modification, PID would gain
flexibility of choice with respect to many additional - materials
25X1A available for the more versatile - back and greatly facilitate
the photographic operations by the inclusion of an exposure meter. Use
of this meter should result in considerable savings both in analyst time
and film costs.
III. Background
The contemplated modifications are the results of observations
made while conducting operational tests and evaluations of the original
25X1A protype_Photomicrographic Enlarger.
