The new photo inter reter's slide rule designed by
is being produced by

There is one scale for which - must make a STATINTL
special calculation and they expect to do his in July.
The other scales can be taken from their s andard log
STATINTL cycle rulings. makes a ruling proof on Velox,

STATINTL will supply proofs to and we can et copies from
him about September 1.
STATINTL showed us through their plant. They
use a special aluminum alloy for their rules which he
says is to their own specification, but I suspect it is
standard aluminum jig plate. They receive the 1/10-in.
thick aluminum in 12 in. by 12 in. plates. The plates
are jig drilled with locating holes, then leaned and
spray painted with a special plastic ename which is
extremely hard and tough. laimed it was STATINTL
almost impossible to get off. The scales re then printed
on the plates. The process is an industrial secret. The
printed plates are coated with a transparent plastic
varnish to protect the scales. The next step is to cut
the plates up into individual rules and mill the tongue
and groove in the edges. A series of debu ring,
assembly, and lubricating operations produce a finished
rule. Their inspection-is quite rigid an meticulous
and the reject rate runs over 10%. The sliding and
stationary parts of the rule are kept together as a
matched set all through the production process.
Their standard precision aluminum rule sells for
$28.50. The new special photo interpreter's slide rule
will be the same size and will sell for about $30 to $35.
