81.)3.7VCTI Monthly Contract Status Report No. 4.
Development of Advanced Light Tables
1 October to 31 October. 1965
and
The purpose of this project is to design and develop three
Tables for photo interpretation use.
k Performed
ix Period:
Major engineering problems solved during the reporting period
have consisted of a suitable microscope movement for Tables # 2 & 3
and the basic design of the tracking light source positioning mechanism
and source adjustment mechanism. Considerable time has been spent
In checking and revising drawings on Tables 0 Z & 3 in addition to final
engineering checking of Table 0 I prior to febricstion, The customers
25X1A representative visited th lent on ZS October 1965 to
review the design to date. iwo nesign problems were discussed:
(1) The Amount of overhang on Table it 3 with the tracking light
source positioning movement Installed is I 3/4" beyond the rear of the
base casting.
(Z) The film hold-down bars on Tata* # 2 t. 3 interfere with the
microscope carriage when in the raised position.
The customers representative stated that the 3 3/4" overhang on
Table # 3 was permissible. The customers representative also recommend-
ed a tenative solution to the hold-down bar problem. The solution
recommended was to add a microswiteh on the .:11: -X carriage rails. When
the microscope movement trips the microswitch on either end of Table #
& 3, the hold-down bars will be automatically depressed and the clutches
de..energieed allowing for no film transport during this period. This fix
I. suitable but a much better method of film hold-down would be to adapt
a hold-down plate, either electrically or raechanica.Uy activated, to the
microscope carriage. This addition is beyond the scope of this project.
3. Work Schedule Conformance:
A revised work schedule was spelled out in the September progress
It is still anticipated that this delivery schedule can be met. AU
are being directed toward meeting this schedule by
**ibis that sub contracts on the castings and microscope micrometer
eats may cause delay but this is not known yet.
