DECLASS REVIEW by NIMA/DOD
7 April 1965
I accept your chastisement and have accordingly learned a lesson
with regard to visiting your organization, and in the future will
strongly suggest that you be present when I am invited to visit
Mr. Art L's office in the event we are to discuss your project.
As you know, the principal purpose of my visit was to present to
Mr. L. a duplicate copy of the photographs of the Moon which we
processed for the Jet Propulsion Labs. Enclosed is a copy of
the press release. It was very exciting and I do hope yoi get an
opportunity to see these pictures.
I'met Col. Gordon S. He and John C. are making a tour of West
Coast companies and intend to visit here sometime near the end
of April. We will brief him at that time on our activities, and
I would appreciate any pre-briefing you could give them before
they come out here.
Regarding the Direct Image Viewer, Mr. Art L. appears to be
extremely excited about its prospects; and I wondered about
adapting the viewer for stereo presentations. He also stated
that the breadboard you have in the lab certainly demonstrate s
the potential of the idea, which he feels is far greater than,
the particular applications for your organization. It was then
that we discussed the patents that and I have andSTATINTL
the patent that Dick S. is pursuing. I received Art's permission
to talk to Dick regarding the commercial applications of Dick's
patent, which I did on Monday morning.
I also discussed with Art the fact that other people in other
organizations within your company, who he knows, have a great
interest in improving pilots' viewfinders and that we would
like to be able to talk to these people regarding the possibil-
ity of adapting the principles of the viewer to a pilot's view-
finder. He felt that since these people are in the community,
there is no problem.
I briefed Art, Bill M., Col. S., and John C. regarding some of
the new products we have developed in the rapid access process-
ing field and have enclosed a new product announcement booklet
for your information.

Having once been a project officer for the government, I appre-
ciate your position and understand your feelings in this matter.
Please accept my apologies and my assurance that this will not
happen again.
