116 A-Type II which was cancelled in July 1967. It should be pointed
out that there was no operational material available to date to check out
25X1A the reader (with the exception of the 116 A-Type II material). All check-
out was made with simulated data on film. It is therefore likely that
some additional work may be necessary on the finite adjustments and
logic circuitry of the Reader when operational material is in hand.
3. The second unit - to be delivered to Army Map Service - is due
for delivery before 30 September 1967. It is not known as to what use
AMS will make of their instrument, as they have evidenced no interest in
the necessary programming functions involved and very little interest in
progress of the contract. At the time of installation of the NPIC instru-
ment the GIMRADA monitor was invited to bring AMS operational personnel
to NPIC to go through the equipment set-up and operation (no AMS operational

1. The Multi-format Data Block Reader (MFDBR), designed and fab-
was delivered to NPIC on September 1967. Installation was started
on 5 September and completed by 7 September. Check-out of the equipment
to the satisfaction of the Program Engineer and the operating personnel
in TID was performed on 6-7 September.
