The contract which had been negotiated 'last month by
;
clearance of the Telecol!"ing man-who must sign it.
The clearance of their VP and General
Manager has not been recieded. He is the only one
in that division empowered to commit the company.
His name was submitted some months ago on a list of
eight persons whose clearance was requested. It
is not known whether action has been taken on any of
those on the list, but thought that
M their manager of Con rac Administration who
was on that list was cleared,
This unexpected delay put an abberation into their
work load planning. With completion of the negotiate
tion and the expectation that the contract would be
placed by 30 IIune, they had made their Engineering
assignments to get the work under way immediately.
They have been considering assuming the risk and
proceeding anyway. This however gets them into
trouble with the corporate office since they can't
under take work without an order on hand unless it
is an approved build up of inventory. Their reports
to the Corporate office are computer sorted and
STATINTL tabulated so the Corporate office keeps weekly tabs
on its Divisions. it is probably not desirable to
attempt to get Corporate office approval to proceed.
A good estimate of how long the clearance will take
would help them decide whether or not the Division
STATINTL will proceed on its own risk. Apparently
has had Top Secret Clearance so there is 1 e risk STATINTL
that the clearance will not be granted.
