On 29 November 1965, two (2) packa es containing al
Microscope and its mount were received at (ref: Receiving Report #6301).
The mount was found to be damaged. Parts of the casting containing two of the four
ball bushings were broken, the brake shaft was broken, and four chrome plated bars
had pulled loose from their mountings. All broken parts were found in the packing
case.
The microscope was also visibly damaged. The microscope and its accessor-
ies were not in their proper storage positions in the carrying case. Adjusting5X1
screws on all rhomboids were bent, one rhomboid was obviously way out of alignment,
and there was a deep scratch on the eyepiece tube of the microscope. The units-
were not checked optically for interval damage.
The cartons and packing materials were saved and are being held at
The information contained on the carton labels and a copy of the 25x1
packing slip is enclosed. Cartons were not visibly damaged.
The customer's project engineer was notified of the arrival of the
damaged equipment and same was inspected by the project engineer, on 2 December 1965.

believes the equipment as received is not acceptable 25x1
as an aid in the design of the mount and should be repaired or replaced immed-
iately. Therefore the equipment and the cartons it was shipped in are being
held in incoming inspection area awaiting your instructions on 25X1
shipping and/or disposition.
