2. First, the addition of a cutting edge is a definite
improvement over the old style where the film had to be cut
by pulling it along a straight edge. A second advantage is
that the vacuum holds the cut film in place, enabling the
user to make an accurate splice. However, it i recommended
that the vacuum stage be made of a transparent material. The
film splice support should also be transparent and etched to
enable-the user to see where the cut is to be de. The light
table needs an adjustable curtain to block off excess light
when less than 9.0" wide film is being edited. It is also
advisable that a double spool setup be incorpor ted on the
right side of the table to accommodate edited terial from
the master stock.
