they were informed of this. Suggestions were made on he required changes.
They are going to examine a design incorporating a str ctly mechanical
counter rather than a projected scale. Only a. line fo reference and
an index mark will be projected.
2. The Zoom Magnifier has been started and is in early design
phases. It was too early in the contract to obtain much helpful infor-
mation.
3. Final production drawings have been completed on the Dovetail
Rhomboid. Their design looks very good and should be vast improvement
over the previous clip-on system. Delivery is scheduled for 17 July 1961+.
1+. The anamorphic eyepieces are progressing well and on schedule;
however, there are some problem areas. There is a difficulty in that
the zoom magnification is in one axis only while the other axis stays
fixed thus giving the eye a fixed reference to compare against. This
difference in focus can be compensated for; however, this requires an
25X1A extra, manual or automatic element in the system. 3ays that
they may not be able to exactly meet specifications wit in e specified
contract time, but should closely approach them. Redesign of some of the
elements should accomplish all of the design requiremens.

5. The Versatile Microstereoscope, built for the Navy, was available
for inspection. It should be ready for delivery to NRTS in about two
weeks. The unit is well designed and constructed. The mount appears
poorly suited for our purposes; nevertheless, the instrument should solve
many of our problems. Our instrument is scheduled for aAugust delivery.
