Progress Report for January and February 1965

1. PROGRESS OF WORK
Investigation of the "light pipe" technique was completed. It
was found that, although the basic idea was sound, it is not applicable
in this case. Tests and measurements were performed on a system
that uses a split-scanning beam.
Trips were made to Shaw AFB and Washington, D. C. to view
Photo -Interpretation equipment.
A demonstration was prepared for the project sponsors. The
demonstration illustrated the modulated light table principle and some
of the capabilities of closed-circuit television monitoring. The
demonstration was exhibited in a meeting with representatives of the
sponsor in mid-February. The investigation phase of the study was
completed in this period.
2. PROBLEM AREAS ENCOUNTERED
No new problem areas were encountered.
3. PROJECTED WORK FOR NEXT PERIOD
Next period will be spent in preparing a proposal for a
specific device and preparing the final report. The work on the
proposal will be done at our expense.
4. STATUS OF FUND EXPENDITURES TO END OF PERIOD
As of the end of February- had been expended. Funds 25X1 A
remaining are exclusive of fee.
