Bi-Monthly Status REport No. 3
under
This bi-monthly status report covers the period from
August 22 through October 21, 1969. During this period two
trips were made to the Customer's facility, as follows:
September 8, 1969: This trip was concerned
with,a review of both the philosophy, and
a preliminary outline, of the handbook.
October 21-22, 1969: This trip was concerned
with delivery and review of three items; a
detailed outline and chapters 1 and 2 of the
handbook. Also, a complete chronological
record of "message traffic". for'both."C" and "G."
was finalized for inclusion in the handbook.
Trip reports covering each trip have been submitted.
During this period work has been concentrated on
Chapter 1 and 2 of the handbook, from the standpoint of both
content and format. The proposed handbook will not be a
"cookbook", but will provide a technological basis for under-
standing the image evaluation process in terms of its component
parts and their inter-relationships. It will also establish
those areas of evaluation which require further investigation.

The primary emphasis during the coming period will be
on Chapter 3. It will be attempted in Chapter 3 to define,
in terms of flow charts and descriptive material, the sequence
of event and techniques which constitute image evaluation.
