topics are suggested for possible inclusion
in a follow-on " effort
1. Psychophysical investigation of mensuration
performance - May variables such as sun angle, obliq-
uity, revolution, pointer type, magnification, illum-
ination intensity, individual operator differences,
and storeosco is ree-eenta-tions have been left largely
unexplored by l first mensuration study. Their

is particu.e'rly well suited to the performance
of this task since it has worked closely with TI13
personnel and methodologies in the past. Real=
material and practicing IT'PIC photogrammetrists should
be utilized for experimentation whenever possible.
2. Ground resolution studies - `Che present P. I.
Performance and Techniques Study is only scratching
the surface of the overall resolution question. The
current missile site effort could be easily expanded
to include a broader range of targetry, perhaps
through the use of Project materials. In-
cluded in this investigation should be a study of
collection system resolution break points for various
intelligence requirements and a thorough definition
of the effects on image interpretation of unequaa
contralateral resolutions in a stereo system.
3. Sun angle study - Controlled 0 model
photography is already available in OSA for a psycho-
pWsi.eal assessment of the influence of sun angle on
image interpretability. Once basic principles are

4> Updating of the May, 1963 document, "An
Analysis of th W k of Photo Interpreters in CIA/
PI37 (NPIC)" - participated in the original pre-
paration of t e valuable report 3 1/2 years ago and
has been intimately involved with NPIC ever since.
This position uniquely qualifies Q to perform this
task which would document recent procedural changes
in $PIC's interpretation activities.
Th following areas are possible additional sources of work

Human Visual Integration A follow-on to the
effort is required, but because of possible
equipment aiissregisstraation considerations, 0 may
provide more satisfactory service in this area than

Collateral and social influences on interpreter
performance - This area is felt to encompass a vast
amount of.p ecological territory and should probably
be tested under the large, long-range 0 effort.

Equipment training and testing -- This realm is
also one of long-range Implications and should cer-
tainly be contemplated by F- I perhaps
with II help, might make a preliminary dent in
the design of programmed instructions and proficiency
maintenance reviews for various NPIC equipment.
