C P78B04770A001100060013-1 iECRE I*e Monthly Report 249 -Sept 1968 SUBJECT: Ikecision Enlarger Prototype (BPE) Operational Improvements and Maintenance TASK/PROBLEM 1. Provide photographic enlarger maintenance at the customer's facility for one recision Enlarger (BPE) and three 10-20-40X Enlargers. 2. Contractor personnel visited the customer's facility during the week of 9 September 1968. The purpose of the visit was to perform both the one-month and six-month preventive maintenance checks on the Precision Enlarger. (See check list indicating the work performed.) 3. During the maintenance check, it was determined that some of the lens barrels were loose within the focus barrels. These were tightened and refocused; a complete photographic check was made to ensure that the instrument was in proper operating condition. 4. Perform monthly preventive maintenance on the BPE and install carriage limit switches and vertical speed drive stop on this equipment. 5. Inspect the 10-20-4OX enlargers and perform the monthly preventive maintenance check. SECRET GROUP 1 EXCLUDED FROM AUTOMATIC DOWNGRADING AND DECLASSIFICATION Approved For Release 2006/06/27: CIA-RDP78BO477OA001100060013-1 Approved For Release 2006/06/27: CIA-RDP78BO477OA001100060013-1 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE CHECK LIST I I PRECISION ENLARGER Assigned to: B-213 Date 9/9/68 Machine Serial No. 001 Item Description Daily Interval Item Description I Check the four indicator lamps on the sub-control panel. 2.1 Check closed--negative-gate interlock. 2.2 Check interlock that causes vertical transport slow speed. 2.3 Check interlock that disables negative transport after fluid injection. 2.4 Check operation of microswitch that functions when manual-film-movement knob is pushed in. 3.1 Check the indicator lamps for the two attenuator banks of the easel photometer. 3.2 Check the meter scale illuminator lamp of the easel photometer. 3.3 Check the antifatigue lamp in photo- multiplier tube housing. 7 4 Clean the glass plates of the negative gate. l Vacuum-clean the enlarger. 2 Check, and if necessary, clean the objective lenses and all glass filters. V 3 Vacuum-clean the front surface of the easel. / 4 Check the fiber optics for broken fibers. I Wax the steel rails of the lens ramp J and of the easel. V/ 2 Install new air filter in lamphouse. 3 Clean the nylon brushes of the fluff-1 removal s st y em. 4 Check all tubing and hoses for cracks and air leakage. 5 Check and, if necessary clean the , lenses of the condenser lens assemblies. VI '-1 1.1 Make a photographic check on all ei ~ht matching sets of objective and condenser lens assemblies. 1.2 Be sure that film is tracking properly in both directions on the negative transport system. Check the timing belts of the film transport system, of the vertical drive system, and of the easel drive assembly for wear. Repainted easel with flat white enamel; cleaned out holes. NOTE: All lens barrels loose, out of calibration. Focus series run. 1. "B", 'rC", "G" checked O.K. 2.
