MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: PAR 214,
1. Reference is made to thel letter dated
12 January 1965 on subject contracti PAR's 21 and 215.
2 The above reference submitted a cost estimate totaling
II to complete PAR-214, not including the installation.
This represents an increase o nd is largely for labor.
PAR-214 is for the design and fabrication of a roller transport
reversal processor. This company has previously built reversal
and roller processors but have never combined them in a single
machine. I have discussed this cost increase with the l
Project Engineer and I am convinced that they had under estimated
the cost of design and fabrication. The roller transport as designed
for the Versamat Film Processor (previously produced by
is considered ineffective for this reversal processor which is
designed to handle both film and paper.
3. The applied research being accomplished under another
project, PAR-206, indicated that a substantial increase in the
resolution of the duplicate negative can be expected from reversal
processing.
4. It is therefore considered to be in the best interest
of the Government to approve this proposed increase in cost to
complete PAR-214 and it is recommended that an increase of ~e
authorized for PAR-214.
