FY-66 Quarterly Report No. 3
PAR 214
28 Feb 66
SUBJECT: Roller Transport Processor (12-Inch)
TASK/PROBLEM
1. Design and fabricate a versatile self-threading photographic
processor capable of handling both cut sheet and continuous webs of
photographic material and adaptable to a process yielding either standard
negative or reversal images. Interchange between processes to be ac-
complished with a minimum of effort.
DISCUSSION
2. Polyethylene-surfaced rollers have been fabricated and shipped
to the customer and will be installed by the contractor. The polyethylene-
surfaced rollers will replace the Kralastic-surfaced rollers which contact
wet film emulsion.
3. Phenolic side plates used in the construction of the dichromate
bleach rack have been replaced by an epoxy-fiberglass material. Acceler-
ated corrosion tests in potassium dichromate bleach indicate that the
epoxy-fiberglass material will satisfactorily withstand corrosion from
potassium dichromate.
4. Nylon drive gears used in the construction of the bleach rack
will be replaced with gears fabricated from stainless steel.
PLANNED ACTIVITY
5. Install polyethylene-surfaced rollers.
6. Install rebuilt bleach rack.
7. Check out processor operation.
