SUBJECT: Optimization of Lasers
TASK/PROBLEM
1. Explore the production of 0.53 micron (blue-green) laser radiation
by harmonic doubling in KSP and ADP crystals.
DISCUSSION
2. During the first two months of the quarter, a wide variety of tech-
nical journal articles were read which dealt with visible light, laser systems.
A list of sources was appended to the 3 May 65 monthly report.
3. The material read so far gives very little information upon mode con-
trol, beam uniformity, etc., which is of interest for photographic application.
4. Plans have been made for a vendor search of specifications and prices
of lasers providing output between 0.4+ and 1.1 micron wavelength.
PLANNED ACTIVITY
5. In the next quarter, we expect to complete the vendor search described.
above and begin preparation of the final report for the project.
