Conference at P&DS 23 January 1964 b. Scheduled Conference at= 3, 4 Febru- ary 1964. 3. ACTION REQUIRED: Determination of feasibility of subject develop- ment under Contract. 4. ACTION TAKEN: During the conference, reference a.,arrangements were made for discussion (reference b.) of the general objectives of the proposed development. The general concept is recorded below. a. A system is needed to provide continuous focus on equipment having variable conjugate optical trains. b. The auto-focus system is to be highly-ver- satile, implying a. focus sensing/servo-control loop. c. The major area. for application of this system is on devices such as rear projecting viewers, reflecting projectors and the like; consequently, precision focus would not be required. d. A secondary requirement exists for precision instruments, such as enlargers, microscopes, etc. e. The system should serve two purposes: (1). To maintain focus while magnification is being varied.
