ELECTROCOLOR SYSTEM STUDY - Explanatory Notes:
1. Foliage Penetration -
a. Staff Study, page 1, paragraph 2b.
b. This is a weak point - it would have been better to leave it out,
but it is logical to assume that CD film would assist in the
detection of man-made objects through holes in foliage by accen-
tuation of the tonal difference through the difference in
reflectance.
2. PSD Processor Test Term -

April 1965 and taken out in December 1965. It was under evaluation
approximately one-quarter of that time due to workload conflicts
in PSD. The cost of renting the equipment during that period was

Transparencies by Plating -
a. Tab B, Technical Discussion, last page, paragraph "L".
b. Production of a transparent copy by Electro plating is neither
simple nor impossible. It will be much less expensive, however
to first prove the value of the basic principle with the existing
substrate.=:aaa done some investigation on the transparency
development. Two possible methods for development are:
(1) peeling off the plated dyes by first evaporating a
transparent coating on them - then remounting them
on a transparent substrate. This technique is used
in the production of sheet plastic materials and has been
highly automated.
(2) developing a suitable photo-conductive transparent medium
to act as the electrode and the substrate as such
a material in a very early development stage - it is highly
proprietary. In spite of these two potential solutions we
can in no way assure that a practical transparent system
can be achieved.

4. Define "reciprocity failure"
a. Technical Discussion, Tab B, first page.
b. This paper is for technical consumption. It is not in any
case appropriate to explain such a basic term. If the reader
did not understand -- and wanted to know - any basic reference
on photography would explain the concept.
a. Staff Study, page 2, paragraph 3d.
b. is exclusively dedicated to T&E, s their own,
interest in the material which would prejudice the ev uation.
