1. The acceptance tests on the High Precision Stereo-
comparator were completed on 5 November 1971. The referenced
document contains the procedures used and the results of those
tests.
2. These tests were at of tests run in November
1970 at prior to shipment of the
HPS to en er. The results of the tests reported in the
referenced document are accurate. Some comments should be
-made, however, and these comments follow.

0 TEB/ESD. The readings, especially at higher
resolutions, made by TEB were
approximately 2 elements lower
than those made by the other two observers. In no case,
however, did the readings by TEB show an out-of-spec condi-
tion. This discrepancy is not uncommon, and is due to a
difference in training and experience in reading targets of
this variety.
4. Some difficulties were encountered in running the
Part II tests; that is, actually using the comparator with
operational photography. These problems were both electronic
and programming. Successful operation was achieved with all
types of photography after repeated failures and trouble-
shooting by personnel. These failures were not-unexpected
