The design, fabrication and delivery of an operational High Precision Stereo
Comparator, compatible with future collection systems. The system as contracted
for will provide capabilities for the Center that do not exist in current instru-
mentation.

This program is related to the Precise Measurement Study. Extensive coordination
has been accomplished within the Agency, the intelligence community through
COMIREX, ERDL Fort Belvoir, Rome Air Development Command, and the National Bureau
of Standards.

All available comparators are based on cartographic requirements. They are not
capable of adequate performance on the volume and quality of photography now
being exploited for intelligence purposes. This comparator is the first whose
features are commensurate with the latest generations of collection systems. Its
magnification range, distortion correction, film capacity, and computer-driven
optical adjustments will greatly extend the photo analyst's capability.
