Forwarded herewith is a draft letter prepared by the -engineering staff at OOAMA based on'a major deficiency that they detected in the 1540-1 light table during the acceptance inspection accomplished at OOAMA. 2. It is recommended that your office take appropriate action with the contracting officer over this contract suggesting that the contracting officer forward a letter to F---j informing them of this situation. During the testing program a condition of heat build-up in the cord reel canister of the subject assembly was observed. It was determined that during operation of the light table at maximum power consumption, the incoming power cord did overheat if left rolled up in the reel assembly. On several occasions different tables were operated with the cord rolled 1. We understand that during the testing program you recognized the problem and began to take corrective action to remedy this hazardous condition.
