1. The purpose of this memo is to provide supplemental information
on the subject suggestion submitted 6 January 1969.

-ing the feasibility of utilizing TV systems to aid NPIC operations.
Project #09037, C-osed Circuit TV System, and Project #10167, Magnetic
Tape to Photo Reproducer, were two projects that concerned this area
of interest. Other Government agencies have also been studying the
value of Dl usage for their operations. Many organizations are already

for security purposes, and for the transmission of information. The
TICOF program uses closed circuit TV systems and ;AS has an experimental
TV system in operation. Several instruments that have been developed
by TSSG use closed circuit TV; the0 Change 'D'etector is an ex-
maple. Areas where TV systems can be useful at NTPIC are in the trans-
mission of imagery frcn one PI to another, from a PI to his supervisor,
from a library or other information source to an individual, etc.
3. Among the reasons for not implementing TV systems at NPIC on

+X` and the poor duality of imagery available at reasonable costs-
These two objections can be overcome with the subject suggestion.
4. The applications of the suggestion are not necessarily limited
to IBC or even to the Agency. in fact, it could easily have commercial
,applications. The principle could even be used in aerial surveillance
system. In short, applications can be found at TWIC, other Goverment
locations, in industry and in surveillance system . The suggested
system has many embodiments. It is possible to gain the stereo using
only one camera and either mirrors or electronics to produce a mirroring
effect.
