The aim of the people organizing the syMosium is to effect a "cross-
fertilization" of ideas concerning counter insurgency research among researchers
in fields as varied as electronics and behavioral science and military science
and social science.
31 The first day's discussions will be concerned with current military
25X1 problems and programs. Lrill review the present status of
program,. Someone from DDIM will review the program. 0
I will present a paper on current South Vietnam ac ivities and Big Gen.
25X1 Re will present another paper with military implications.
Someone from the Army will. present a paper on helicopter warfare and a spokes-
man for USA' headquarters will report on tactical air strikes in Vietnam.
The second day's papers will include one presented by the USt covering
their civic actiorr program in South Vietnam. Someone from will present
a paper in Early Indications of Counter Insurgency, and papers on medical
research and rescue operations will also be presented.
The third day's papers will focus on night vision and tactical real-time
reconnaissance problems. Someone will report on the Army's 0 program
and an Air Force spokesman will talk about their _program. (The
April 24 Technology Week has some references to on pages 22 & 23).
There will be other papers on Night Vision prob ems, Poo.
