Approved For Release 200 TCIA-RDP7& 5171A000800060068-2 NPIC/TSSG/DED 1717. 25X1 S'UBJECT' Chief, Planning, Programming & Budgeting Staff Evaluation Team for Analysis of Concepts for a Scan & Search P.I. Station 1. The Center ig in the initial design stage of a Scan tSa Search P.Z. Station with ahtegral atieon would be a rear-projection viewer Combined T.~f viewing microstereoseope on a small attached light table. The purpose of this station is to facilitate scan and search of large volumes of roll film on a rear projection screen -- yet permitting high resolution, direct viewing of small areas of interest through the mierostereoscope. 2. The development project is to be performed in two phases: Phase I is for a complete design of a system in seven months; Phase II is for fabrication and delivery of one complete prototype by March 1971. 3. Phase I (Design) incorporates two distinct stages: (a) con- ceptual studies (no detail) of several optional configurations of a station; (b) complete optical, mechanical, and electrical design of the configuration selected by NPIC. Under Phase I(a) (conceptual 25X1 studies), will deliver to NPIC, at the end of July, 1969, the results of these conceptual studies of several potential configura- tions. These studies will include for each configuration the major technical parameters, the technical risk of success and the approximate 25X1 costs. NPIC had directed.Ito study seven different configurations. The major operational differences between these configurations is their flexibility,to accommodate film from one or several collection systems -- the question being how much cost (and risk) is NPIC willing to pay for this operational flexibility? 4. In order that the final selection (of the configuration to be designed and fabricated) reflect all of the concerned Center com- ponents, an evaluation team is being formed under the direction of TSSG/DED. It is requested that you appoint a representative from Declass Review by NIMA/DOD Approved For Release 2003/04/1 6781305171A000 006?m SECRET Approved For Release 2003/04/17: CIA-RDP78BJ5171A000800060068-2 25X1 25X1 Evaluation Team for Analysis of Concepts for a Scan Search P.I.
