Division Project Assignments
Project Assignment Sheets
1. This memorandum provides a ..istin of individual, divisional
issignments. These assignments are listed in terms of projects which
are currently existent and under contract and project assignments contained
in DED's new FY-70 budget. Individual Branch chiefs have been provided
with packages containing a listing and description of ] ED's new R&D categories
subdivisionei into A&D work areas and individual projects, along with
Individual narrative descriptions depicting each individual project
general terms. These projects are now your individual and. Branch responsi-
bilities. If you are currently monitorin an existing project which does
not occur on this listing, you should immediately notify your Branch Chief.
Chiefs are currently in the process of developing time schedules
for the programing and implementation of the 1`Y-70 budget.
2. Our lY-70 program is designed to be flexible. Each project needs
to be studied, validated and justified, and each project will have to
compete with other Division projects for the available fl-70 funding; i.e.,
there are more projects than there are available funds. Row well the
individual projects fair Q to a great extent, dependent upon the individual
forts of the project officers involved.
3. In addition, we are vitally interested in building up a backlog
of projects rhich can be substituted in the case individual projects
become untenable due to (a) olitical considerations, (b) cancellation
of acquisition systems,, or (c other unanticipated changes. With this in
miod, any additional projects for which you feel there is a valid require-
went should be forwarded to your Branch Chief in the form of a brief
memorandum for the record stating a logical title and containing a brief
narrative description which explains the problem to be solved, the
proposed method of solution, the technicai., xts involved and a ball-park
estimate of anticipated cost.
