Approved FWelease 2004/02/11 : CIA-RDP78B057 000100020023-8 NPIC/D-113/713 7 APR 1970 5X1 5X1 M OR4N IN FM : Director, Central Reference Service S JBJB T : NPIC Publications Proc~t Budget 1. For FY 1970 the :EPIC library was allotted for book and periodical purchases. This proved to be an insufficient amount for the Center and has, in fact, been expanded. I am in hopes that, when the library fta for FY 1971 area allocated, NPIC will receive an increase in this allotment. NPIC anticipates a need for as much as In FY 1971. This, in part, is based on the rising cost a sc an ific a technical journals and books. As you know, publications in these fields are mong the most expensive in the G.S. 2. In light of rising costs and tight budgets, we continue to review our currmt periodicals with the intent of verifying, the need for each. Our August and December subscription surveys of last year resulted in rexat mending cancellation or copy re- duction for 130 subscriptions.
