1. Secretary of State Visit
Mr. Lundahl announced that Secretary of State Rogers and other State
Department officials will visit NPIC on Monday, 14 September for a briefing
on the Middle East. R. J. Smith, the DDI, will accompany-the Secretary of
State. The briefing will be in the Main Auditorium. I I was
charged with coordinating the preparations for the briefing.
2. Announcements
a. Mr. Lundahl announced that the Combined Federal Campaign Drive is
now underway in the Agency. He commented that the Center did not reach
its goal last year in either participation or dollars. He urged all to
encourage full participation and achievement of our goal for this year.
b. Mr. Lundahl reported that I I an ex-Deputy
Director,NPIC, has become the Assistant Vice Chief of Staff of the Army.
c. Mr. Lundahl read a letter from I I which thanked
Mr. Lundahl for the briefing and luncheon given to him on 3 September 1970.
d. Mr. L u n d a h l reported that the DDI has a roved the one full year
of external training in geography for at the University
of Maryland.

4. Executive Council Meeting Notes
Mr. Lundahl reported on items of interest from the Executive Council
Meetings of 8 and 11 September 1970. Of particular note were the
following:
a. Q of the State Department has expressed
concern over the delay in the development of a new
collection system.
b. Director, IAS, reported that IAS has
increased the number of people working on the Middle East
problem during the present crisis.
c. The DDI announced that all official TDY air travel,
domestic or foreign, has been cancelled. Approval for all
planned official travel must be submitted to the O/DDI.
All employees are urged to discuss private travel plans in-
volving air travel with their supervisors. An employee may
be discouraged from travelling by air if he has access to
particularly sensitive materials.

and tour of IEG for and members of his staff.
e. Thursday, 17 September, 1430 - Compass Link briefing for Mr. Lundahl
and others.
f. Friday, 18 September, 1030 - Thirteen NPIC employees to participate
in the Annual Agency Awards Ceremony at Headquarters. TSG,
will receive her 15-Year award from the DCI on stage.
g. Tuesday, 22 September, 0900 - Mr. Lundahl will address the Mid-
career Course in the Main Auditorium.
h. Tuesday, 22 September, 1500 -
