The attached package represents a requ
rement recently levied on AID by IAS to
provide 500 manhours of programming support. We accepted the job initially but have
subsequently been plagued with reservations, rimarily because of the apparent low
priority of the task in respect to truly Nati al requirements along with the depart-
mental flavor of the request.
To date we have expended fifty hours
ag inst the overall 500 manhour estimates
and expect to finish about 1 March 1971.
The reason we pass this along to you
i. to appraise you of some of the support
the Center provides IAS and to seek your gui-ance for future deliberations on require-
ments of this nature. I would like, at you
convenience, to discuss this with you.

12. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION
1. SID needs the Point--Plot Listings for the following reasons:
a. .The majority of the targets on the attached forms are industrial in nature
and cannot be included in present listings without also Including hundreds
of similar targets in the same category.
Many of the installations on the-attached Iists are targets of Interest
only to IAS. They do not have COMIREX or NPIC numbers. As a result these
Installations are not carried in the standard listings. (This particularily
true of targets located outside the Sino-Soviot Bloc).
2. The requested listin from the Point-Plot Program should save SID/lAS about 48 N

SUBJECT: Request for i PIC Support, dated 20 October 1970,
NPIC Project Nunber 451993
1. Subject request asking for piogrkning support to generate
Point.-Plot listings for SID/J:AS has been accepted as an AID task. The
support will consist of a modification to the current plot point pro-
gram plus a relatively simple report generation program and file
maintenance progrwv. It is estimated that this task will require
506 prograrm~mer manhours to complete. Estimated start date is 1 November
1970 with a completion date of 1 March 1971.
