I was pleased to learn fromi of your interest STAT
in our Washington Presentation Center.
This educational presentation has been especially devel-
oped to provide selected members of the Federal Government
(members of Congress, key individuals from the Executive and
Independent agencies) and other interested professional groups
and individuals with a basic understanding of computers and
their role in society. It is aimed at those individuals not
involved in procurement or in the day-to-day use of computers.
The program attempts to answer three basic questions:
What is a computer?
How does man relate to the computer in using it to
accomplish his purposes?
This is an educational experience and not a machine
demonstration. It presumes no prior knowledge of computers.
While specific application areas are not pursued in depth,
the session does include a general discussion of many aspects
of present computer usage.
Attendance at the program is limited and is scheduled in
advance. The format of this single session is such that attend-
ance at the entire session is necessary in order to acquire a
basic understanding of computers.
I would like to confirm with you my invitation to lI
to have you and nineteen of your associates attend
such a presentation for your group on Wednesday, April 29, 1970
at the Washington. Presentation Center, 1220-19th Street, N. W.,
third floor. It begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. A
