1. The Chairman, SDWG, has forwarded the attached
SDWG recommendation that COMIREX approve DIA's request
for authorization to release elected sanitized infor-
mation and photography from the following four GIANT SCALE
missions over North Korea: 288 (18 September 1970), 289
(19 September 1970), 290 (21 September 1970),and 292 (26 September
1970). The requested release would be in accordance with reference
USIB guidelines.
2. COMIREX members are requested to notify the Office
of the Chairman by noon, Friday, 23 October 1970, of their con-
currence or comment on the SDWG recommendation.

from GIANT SCALE Missions over North

1. The Defense Intelligence Agency has requested authori-
zation to releas for joint targeting and contingency
planning purposes, selected information and sanitized photography
derived from the following four GIANT SCALE missions: No. 288,
flown 18 September; No. 289, flown 19 September; No. 290, flown
21 September; and No. 292, flown 26 September 1970. The re-
lease by DIA would be in accordance with the authorization granted
COMIREX by the Board and would conform to the USIB restrictions
stipulated in reference b.
2. The SDWG members have been polled by telephone and
recommend that COMIREX approve the release of all four missions.
