It's always a pleasure hearing from you, although
I was sorry to learn of your wife's illness. My best
wishes to her for a rapid recovery.
I'm sorry that you were not able to join our
organization, but under the circumstances, I agree with
you that a move under those conditions would be a
definite hardship.
As .yet, I have not had any inquiry from
the Civil Service Commission regarding you - I assume
of course that you gave me as a reference - but as
soon as inquiry is made, you may be certain that I will
give you a wholehearted endorsement. If you feel that a
to whom it may concern" letter would serve any purpobe,
I will send you one to use as you see fit.
