STATEMENT OF WORK

I.
the Government
SCOPE
FOR PROGRAMMING SERVICES
hereinafter referred to as the Contractor, shall furnish
with the services of programming personnel, each with a

minimum of one year of pertinent programming experience. In addition
thereto. Contractor shall
furnish the Government with the services,

a part' time basis, of

as consultants in the development and application
of computing and data processing systems.
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
Performance under the contract will be conducted in two phases.
The period of performance under PHASE I will be for approximately three
(3) months starting 1 June 1963. The period of performance under PHASE
II will be for approximately fifteen (15) months starting on or about
1 September 1963. The total period of performance will be for eighteen
months from 1 June 1963 through 30 November 1964, with extension as may
be mutually agreed upon by both parties.
III. LEVEL OF EFFORT
PHASE *I:
This PHASE I, will be conducted at Contractor's Headquarters
facility and at leased computer facilities and shall consist of
a level of effort of approxima'tely fifteen programming personnel.

In addition thereto, from time to time,
or approved alternates, will furnish
consulting services to the extent deemed necessary. During
PHASE I the activities of the programming personnel will be
planned and supervised by the Contractor. Approximately one
hundred (100) hours of leased Univac 490 computer time will be
provided by the Contractor.
PHASE II
This PHASE II will be conducted at Government facilities and
shall consist of a level of effort of approximately fifteen pro-
gramming personnel,less their travel time
from their domiciles in

all administrative and supervisory matters in connection with
Contractor's programming personnel will be handled through Con-
tractor's normal channels. No cqmputer time will be provided by
the Contractor under this PHASE II.
IV. FUNCTIONS
4.1 PHASE I
4.1.1 TRAINING PROGRAM: Contractor will set up a formal training
course to acquaint the Contractor's programmers with the
computer system configuration, REX (executive program), ,
SPURT (assembly language and program), and NELIAC (compiler

language and program). This training program will be
documented and made available to the Government for use in
training Government personnel.
4.1.2 NELIAC: Existing versions of NELIAC will be modified to
be compatible and efficient in the established computer
systems. The NELIAC compiler will be integrated into the
programming system, be stored on the drum system, and called
by the REX executive program.
4.1.3 OTHER SYSTEM PROGRAMMING: The REX and SPURT systems will
. be investigated to determine if modifications could be
economically made to improve their operating efficiency or
provide additional capabilities.
4.1.4 CAL-COMP PLOTTER ROUTINES: Existing utility routines for
the Cal-Comp Plotter shall be investigated and necessary
routines prepared to efficiently drive the Cal-Comp Plotter
as an on-line peripheral device.
4.1.5 UTILITY PROGRAMS: General arithmetic and utility routines
will be prepared as defined by the Government.
4.1.6 PROGRAM DOCUMENTATION: All programs prepared by Contractor
programmers during Phase I shall be documented according to
Contractor's existing standards. Should the Government
establish a set of new documentation standards, then these
new standards will prevail.
4.1.7 PROGRESS REPORTS: Progress reports during Phase I will be'
prepared every two weeks and submitted to the Government.

4.2 PHASE II
4.2.1 UNFINISHED PORTIONS OF PHASE I FUNCTIONS: Any functions
specified in PHASE I above which are not completed at :the
.time the programming personnel are transferred to PHASE II

4.2.2 PROGRAMMING SERVICES UNDER GOVERNMENT SUPERVISION: Under
the direction of the Government, work will consist of
programming services for a Univac 490 computer and peri-
pheral equipment.
