C16 &AP It would be;most beneficial to our efforts, and valuable contribution to our hearing record, to have a statement from you on behalf of the Central Intelligence Agency addressed to your interpretation of the CIA's narcotics intelligence gathering functions under Executive order 11905, AUG191 released February 18, 1976. We are interested in how the CIA EJLeLn.tivA Rea% collects foreign narcotics intelligence, and how and by whom 6_ that intelligence is evaluated and disseminated to other agens-iles..~._ such as Customs, the State Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Additionally, we are interested in any overlaps that exist between your narcotics intelligence gathering activities and those of DEA, as well as any problems which may be a result of any such overlaps. We are tentatively scheduling our next set of hearings for the week of August 23. We would like to have you available for an appearance during that week, if convenient.
