We are in receipt of a request from the Senate Select Committee on
Intelligence for documents on intelligence collection for utilization by the
Subcommittee on Intelligence Collection, Production, and Quality in their
studies of the intelligence production process as directed by S. Res-400.
As you know, certain guidelines covering availability of such material
have been developed. In addition, it has been determined that material
which may be stored safely in the offices of the Senate Select Committee on
Intelligence will be transmitted to the Committee. Code word materials will
be available for viewing by the Subcommittee members and staffers only at
the Headquarters building.
Before releasing or making documents available for inspection, we
must have the prior written approval of the National Security Council as
the following materials listed below were originated from within or for the
National Security Council:
1949 - Dulles, Jackson, Correa Report
1953 - Jackson Report
1957 - 58 - Gaither Report
May 1973 - Material from Andy M,Miarshall, NSC, to DCI
We do not have a copy of the following document and therefore need,
in addition to your written approval for release, a copy of the document
itself:
