' The heaviest fighting continues to be concentrated
in Binh Duong Province in the Ben Cat District area. Gov-
ernment forces reportedly are making slow progress against
stiffened resistance offered by all units from the Communists'
7th and 9th divisions. South Vietnamese officials expect
diversionary attacks against government camps and population
centers in the area to detract South Vietnamese forces from
concentrating on their drive. The officials believe, however,
that they now have sufficient troop strength and firepower
to regain and.keep the momentum.
In the highlands, government commanders still are con-
vinced that the Communists are maneuvering their units for

an assault on Kontum City. z Prisoners have stated that
they were told by their commanders that an all-out attack
would commence soon. Meanwhile, the Communists are expected
to continue attacking outlying government outposts in
remote areas of the province.
