The level of communist-initiated military action throughout:
the northern provinces remained fairly high over the past few
days. In addition to numerous shellings of government field
positions, Phu Bai Airfield,-which services Hue, was bombarded
twice in three days. The airfield is temporarily closed to
civilian traffic. Government troops are still encountering
strong Communist resistance in their efforts to recover
Firebase 82 near Bencat north of Saigon.
