SUBJECT: THE MILITARY SITUATION IN CAMBODIA
REF: USDAO Cambodian DAMSREPS, Nov 30 - Dec 2, SECRET
Khmer Communist forces cut Route 5 again between
the northwestern provincial capitals of Pursat and Kompong
Chhnang over the weekend. Government clearing operations
are under way but are making little progress. Communist
units have also launched renewed attacks along Route 4
well west of Phnom Penh. Southeast of the capital, in-
surgent attacks in the Bassac corridor continue to keep
government forces on the defensive.
