The Cambodian Army's 1st Division joined the 7.th D:ivisi?on in counterattacks along Phnom Penh's northwestern defenses on January 8.' Government commanders reported little progress in moving against Khmer Communist units in an area between three and five miles northwest of Phnom Penh's airport. The five rockets which struck Phnom Penh during the night o January 7/8 were fired from this sector. Several other rockets struck Phnom Penh early on January 9.
