government forces have resumed
military operations to retake a border outpost in Pleiku Province and that North
Vietnamese units are moving into position for.a counterattack. A South Vietnamese
division in the province has been trying since January 14 to push Communist units
out of Plei Djereng outpost. The operation has been stalled recently by North
Vietnamese counteractions in Pleiku and Kontum provinces and by the Tet holiday
celebrations.
