Approved For Release 2006/10/18: CIA-RDP78S02149R000100050043-7 "ARMY Declass/Release Instructions On File" Approved For Release 2006/10/18: CIA-RDP78S02149R000100050043-7 Approved For Rele 18 : 00100050043-7 "10. The ability,of the air effort to support land forces in periods of darkness and inclement weather." (S) STAG Comment. (TS) CAS maintains around the clock operations by the effective use of flare ships in conjunction with strike aircraft and FACs. USAF and USMC maintain night alert of both flare ships and strike aircraft to support night operations. Weather has often hampered air activity and in many instances land operations have been cancelled because air support could not be delivered. There are instances where aircraft flew in extreme weather conditions to support units under attack. Generally, CAS has not been as responsive in bad weather as artillery.
