(i.e., ground or airborne FAC)." (S)
STAG Comment: (TS) A forward air controller is on duty with each Army
maneuver battalion. Additionally,, airborne FACs operate over the land
battle environment. In instances where a ground or airborne FAC is not
available the ground commander can accept responsibility for directing
strikes provided that he is in communication with strike aircraft or can
adequately mark the target.
