The Shuangchengtzu SSM Housing and Support Area (SSM Support Facility),
consisting of a housing area, a. meteorological station, a vehicle and equipment
maintenance and storage area, an observation blockhouse, and a defensive strong-
point, provides direct support to the SSM launch complexes.
The northwest portion of the vehicle and equipment maintenance and storage
area has been walled off from the remainder of the area, and a, new road connects
this area to the drive-in wing of the nearby large C-shaped building.
A defensive strongpoint with weapons positions similar to those associated
with suspect advanced weapons-related facilities (SAWRFs) is under construction
west of the housing area. Approximately 3.05 kilometers (km) (10,000 feet)
of personnel trenches have been constructed around the perimeter of the SSM
housing and support area.

The Shuangchengtzu SSM housing and support area is approximately 1.4
kilometers (km) east of the main access road of the complex and approximately
1.5 nautical miles (nm) east-southeast of launch complex A (Figure 1). The
support facility provides direct support to the SSM launch complexes and con-
tains a housing area, a meteorological station, a vehicle and equipment main-
tenance and storage area, an observation blockhouse, and a, defensive strongpoint.

Defense of the SSM housing and support area is provided by approximately

The strongpoint, approximately 463 meters (1,520 feet) west of the housing
area, consists of four weapons positions, two bunkers, two earth-covered struct-

Weapons Positions
The weapons positions and bunkers are similar to those associated with the
suspect advanced weapons-related facilities (SAWRFs). When complete, each
position will be aligned on a northwest-to-southeast axis and will consist of
an earth-mounded structure connected by a pair of concrete wheel guides or rail
foundations to a nearly circular hardstand.
